Diversity…Equity…Inclusion.
It’s hard to reconcile that in 2024 those three words would be lighting rods in workplace and political conversations. Wrapping our minds around ‘controversial conversations’ of why we should have varying perspectives when it comes to business operations of companies that directly affect the various communities across our country boggles the mind.
In capitalistic terms…no matter your skin color, all money is green. However, for the sake of humanity…EVERYONE deserves a seat at the table. No matter your race, nationality, gender, sexuality, religion, socioeconomic status, physical or mental ability, your voice matters! Extending opportunities to others does not mean less for you. Let’s break these ideas down…
DIVERSITY: the condition of having or being composed of differing elements; an instance of being composed of differing elements or qualities: an instance of being
EQUITY: fairness or justice in the way people are treated
INCLUSION: the act or practice of including and accommodating people who have historically been excluded (as because of their race, gender, sexuality, or ability)
These three elements of our society are strengths, not weaknesses. They drive innovation, encourage progress, combats sameness that only stagnates us a whole. As this year winds down and we’re in for a very interesting 2025, let’s hold close to these ideals so no matter what comes our way, we’ll come through stronger TOGETHER.
